ECH’s Living Well Program helps you to become more involved in social activities. We understand there can be obstacles in your life which may be preventing you from doing things you enjoy. Social connections, at any age, are important for overall wellbeing, physical and mental health. We assist you to reconnect with hobbies and interests or discover new ones.
Due to loss of relationships, commitments to caring for a partner or grandchildren, lack of access to transport, living alone, or a decline in physical health, your level of participation in social activities can reduce and you can experience loneliness.
Research shows people who participate in social activities are more likely to feel a sense of belonging, feel less lonely, have higher levels of confidence and improved quality of life.
ECH’s Living Well Program focuses on your personal interests and can offer you individual support to access activities of interest to you. These could include:
- Joining existing community groups
- Attending social events e.g. lunch clubs, bus trips, movie outings
- Exercise groups.
Previous participants in the program have reported physical improvement, increased confidence, renewed connections with family members, making new friends, finding new and exciting hobbies, volunteering as well as generally broadening their lives.
The Living Well program can also assist with addressing life's challenges, enhancing well being through counselling, advocating with external agencies and providing emotional or practical support.
