Join our Mission.
COTA (formerly Council on the Ageing) is the peak body representing the best interest of older Australians for over 60 years.
COTA’s mission is to advance the rights, interests and futures of Australians as we age.
We need the support of members to rewrite what modern ageing is and can be, to stand up for the needs of older people who are disadvantaged, and to speak out against ageism and age discrimination.
COTA influences and advocates across many forums, committees, advisory groups and research bodies, both government and non-government. These are the groups that have the power to bring about positive change for current and future generations of older Australians.
COTA’S MISSION IS TO ADVANCE THE RIGHTS, INTERESTS AND FUTURES OF AUSTRALIANS AS WE AGE.
Advocate, inform and influence in the following areas:
• Aged care reform
• Income / cost of living
• Ageism and discrimination
• Housing / homelessness
• Mature age employment
• Social connectivity
Membership is the lifeblood of COTA. As a not-for-profit entity we rely on an engaged and growing membership to enable us to become more influential. Members provide us with precious resources to extend our reach and advocacy as well as valuable feedback that helps us develop and guide our policies.
