Cooper House prides itself on being a close-knit community with caring staff and volunteers. Cooper House has 58 cosy rooms all with easy access to an expansive outdoor area with beautiful gardens, seating, a gazebo for entertaining visitors and a children’s play area.
A large communal lounge room overlooking the gardens, equipped with a piano, TV, DVD and stereo, encourages residents to socialise together or join family and friends for a leisurely cup of tea.
All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, cabling for phone, a flat screen TV and ensuite bathrooms. Residents can access free Wi-Fi anywhere throughout the home. Full laundry services are also available, along with buffet-style dining and the ability to cater for specialised diets.
As a resident at Cooper House you can enjoy the company of cats and birds, take advantage of aromatherapy and massage treatments, and listen to concerts from school students. You will also have convenient and timely access to services such as podiatry, physiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy and speech pathology from allied health professionals on-site.
Cooper House is also involved in Wesley Mission Queensland’s Intergenerational Program with children from the on-site Little Marchants Child Care Centre enjoying weekly visits to the home. The children and residents spend time together singing, playing games and celebrating special occasions.
Care with heart
Living with Wesley Mission Queensland means living with friends in a loving community where the care is all about you. Wesley Mission Queensland was the first provider of aged care in Brisbane with the Sisters of Nursing in 1907 and established Queensland’s first aged care community in 1936. We are privileged to share in the lives of our elders and celebrate their wisdom and wealth of knowledge. When you enter one of our residences we take the time to get to know you personally. This ensures all staff can respond to your individual needs effectively and accurately, including medical, cultural, religious and dietary.
We provide quality meals to ensure your dining experience is an enjoyable and social one. Chefs regularly meet with our dieticians, nutritionists and speech pathologists to plan a range of delicious healthy meals, which are served buffet-style in our dining rooms.
Our approach to dining is flexible. Whether you want to dine with friends in the dining room, entertain family or guests in private dining spaces, or enjoy a quiet meal in your room, it's all about providing choice.
Cooper House has a leisure and lifestyle coordinator on-hand to create spontaneous, meaningful and exciting activities for you to take part in every day, regardless of your physical abilities. These activities change every month and can include: board games, sing-along’s, knitting sessions, a movie club, cooking classes, bus outings and a men’s shed.
Wheller Gardens is opportunely located in easy walking distance to public transport, Westfield shopping centre, multiplex cinemas, restaurants and the Chermside RSL and library hub. The convenient Wheller Gardens bus is available to take you on regular outings.
