Community Based Support, or CBS as we are more commonly known, is a Tasmanian, not-for-profit organisation that has been supporting people to remain living independently at home since 1988!
We are very proud of the fact that we are Tasmanian owned and operated and we believe that this has gone a long way to helping us to understand the unique needs of our fellow Tasmanian's.
Being socially connected to the community in which you live is an important part of many people’s lives. However, many people talk about the social isolation they experience as they get older. CBS offers very simple solutions to this problem by providing a range of social groups and social support activities for older Tasmanian's.
CBS Social Groups are offered on varying days, in multiple locations across Tasmania. The purpose of these groups is to provide people with opportunities for social connection, learning, personal development, and sometimes, just a reason to get out of the house.
There are many types of social groups to choose from including Day Centres, Home Away From Home Groups, Water Aerobics, Gentle Movement Chat Groups, and groups that meet for specific activities such as bus outings. Activities are discussed and decided upon by the group, ranging from activities that provide learning opportunities to activities that connect you with your community.
If you would like to learn more about CBS Social Groups, please contact Tanya or Leah at our main office, located in Hobart, on (03) 6208 6600.
