Community Based Support is a Tasmanian, not-for-profit organisation that has been supporting people to remain living independently at home since 1988!
We are very proud of the fact that we are Tasmanian owned and operated and we believe that this has gone a long way to helping us to understand the unique needs of our fellow Tasmanian's.
Community Based Support provides a wide range of statewide support services to people who are over the age of 65, people who are frail, people with disability, and unpaid carers. All services offered may also be purchased privately by anyone over the age of 18.
These include Social Groups and Social Support Services.
Being socially connected to the community in which you live is an important part of many people’s lives. However, many people talk about the social isolation they experience as they get older. Community Based Support offers very simple solutions to this problem by providing a range of social groups and social support activities for older Tasmanian's.
Community Based Support social groups and social support services operate throughout Tasmania on varying days, providing older Tasmanian's the opportunity to meet new friends and have a lot of fun! There are many social activities to choose from including Day Centres, Social Groups, Home Away From Home Groups, Water Aerobics and Gentle Movement Chat Groups. Activities are decided upon by the group, ranging from activities offered at a venue to out and about bus trips.
