About Us With the demand for non-residential home care support on the rise with an ageing population and the desire by many to live independently and well, combined with poor morale and work conditions, home care support workers took matters into their own hands and formed Co-operative Home Care to offer a new way of providing individualised, affordable and quality care in a supportive and empowering work environment. The employee owned co-operative has been in operation since 2013, with 18 employees and 8 members delivering 500 hours of care per week.
In CHC’s innovative model of home care service delivery, care workers are both CHC employees and owners. In an industry known for its low pay, poor working conditions and high staff turnover, CHC is able to provide a unique working environment where worker members are directly involved in the business. Workers co-operatively make decisions on issues that affect them such as salary, work schedules, client care programs and training. The profits are reinvested back into the business to improve systems, conditions or to save for future expenses.
Dementia at Home Programme A revolutionary approach to caring for people with Alzheimer’s and other forms of memory loss. People with dementia and other forms of memory loss deserve better care. With our assistance, and the right training, tools and management, they can live happy, meaningful lives at home.
Active Support Programme The Active Support Programme is designed for adults with a disability (18 -100+ years). Engagement in a full range of typical activities is part and parcel of such a lifestyle. Basic requirements for a full life are the opportunities to:
- participate in the full range of activities that everybody else does
- be involved and share interests with other people … and …
- develop relationships, skills, and experience.
When a person is not able enough to do typical activities independently, he or she will need support to do them. Active Support is designed to make sure that people who need support have the chance to be fully in their lives and receive the right range and level of support to be successful.
We offer all levels of care from one hour respite to 24 hour care.
Hourly service begins at $42.00/hour(matched to the latest NDIS costing).Ask us about our Care Option Bundles to save you money through discounts off our hourly rate, and are designed to help you to create the right schedule for you and your loved ones.
Changes to home care funding and opportunities will create valuable and dynamic opportunities to expand the activities of Coop Home Care through the establishment of dedicated care centres – Life Centres – that will:
• expand the availability of high quality services to the market,
• create opportunities for broader community ownership and profit sharing and
• enhance the security of employment for home care workers.
Our Project- to build Life Centres - a purpose-designed and built care facility that enables people to live a life with dementia with dignity, meaning, purpose, fulfilment and engagement.
The most promising way of addressing the many needs of older people in our community is through centred based social support facilities. Our Life Centres will bridge the gap between independent living and highly restricted care.
Our target groups are people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of memory loss including early onset dementia. They will provide a secure and happy environment for participants with carefully planned activities to keep them using their cognitive, language, social, and motor skills. The Life Centres will be open from 7am till 7pm Monday to Saturday, and will have the option for long day care or occasional care. Launch date - mid 2016.
