Orana provides support to those who are 65 and over, those who are living with a disability and those who are caring for a loved one at home.
We provide a range of community programs including the following:
- Sunday lunches
- Adult Day Centre Social Club
- Respite cottage stays of up to 21 days
- Shopping assistance/transport
- Evening café
- Afternoon respite program - meal and transport provided
- Home Care Packages (HCP)
- Transitional Care Packages (TCP).
Orana’s Sunday lunch takes place twice each month. A team of dedicated volunteers cook a delicious Sunday roast and a dessert served in a home-like environment.
Sunday lunch is a great opportunity to make new friends, have a chat and share a laugh. Transport also provided if required.
Current fees as of January 2015 are $5 for the lunch and an additional $5 is you require transport.
Flexible Cottage Respite
Orana has a seven bed respite cottage where 24 hour caring support is provided. The aim of this program is to give the at home carer time to nurture themselves while their loved one is being supported in a home-like, caring environment.
The overnight respite is for clients that are assessed as Low care and require only minimal support. Clients are provided with meals cooked on site, clients washing is done daily and they have free access to Orana Day Centre during their stay which runs from Mon-Fri 9am to 4pm.
Orana offers an evening café experience each Tuesday for clients to enjoy a meal with friends in a relaxed 'café-style' environment. Transport can be provided. A three course meal is served at 5pm and clients are offered information on recipes and nutrition as part of this program.
Adult Day Centre
At adult day centres, older adults and adults with disabilities are invited to participate in group activities. Orana Day Centre is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm. This is a great opportunity to build new friendships and reconnect with old friends! A range of different activities are offered including outings, music, craft, games, social events, fun and pampering.
Morning and afternoon tea and a home cooked lunch are provided. Clients must be assessed as having low care needs to access this program. For assistance with transport arrangements please contact our office.
Orana staff provide weekly shopping assistance and transport for grocery shopping. This can also include paying bills and visiting
the chemist etc. Clients need to be assessed as low care for
Afternoon Respite Program
This program operates Wednesday through to Sunday afternoons. The program includes community outings and other activities. Clients are picked up and returned home by staff after an evening meal at Baptcare Orana. This program is aimed at supporting carers who care for people living with dementia or symptoms of dementia.
