At Alzheimer’s WA we understand that everyone is different. Every person’s experience with dementia is different. That’s why our services are tailored to help you through your dementia journey.
How can occupational therapy help me?
Occupational therapy can minimise the impacts of dementia and support you to live in your own home for as long as you are able.
Occupational therapists are qualified health professionals. They specialise in helping people with injury or disability, including dementia, with everyday activities.
Occupational therapists can help you to:
» Manage appointments
» Shower and dress independently
» Prepare meals
» Use assistive technology
» Avoid falls
» Continue regular activities such as gardening, grocery shopping or looking after your pet.
Where is the service provided?
Occupational therapy is available throughout the Perth metropolitan area. Our occupational therapists will work with you in your own home.
What is the cost of the service?
Our occupational therapy services are available to anyone with a diagnosis of dementia. Pay privately, through your home care package or the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Privately funded services may be eligible for a rebate through Medicare or your private health insurance.
