Alwyndor provides an extensive range of Healthy Living Services to help you stay healthy, active and independent. You can access our services as a private client (and claim relevant rebates through your private health fund), or register through My Aged Care via myagedcare.gova.u or on 1800 200 422 to access government subsidies.
Depending on your needs and circumstances, we can visit you at home, or you can come to our beautiful centre in seaside Hove (just minutes from Brighton and Glenelg) - and enjoy a coffee in our cafe while you're here.
Our range of services includes:
Physiotherapy – We offer clinic-based assessment and treatment and can arrange home visits if you need. We work to assist you with reducing your pain, self-managing your condition and regaining and/or maintaining your functional independence. Our qualified and experienced physiotherapists also offer restorative massage.
Occupational Therapy - Our occupational therapists can assist you with managing you daily living activities. This includes offering strategies for managing functional decline, assessing your home and prescribing helpful equipment and aids and helping you to choose and learn how to use a scooter. Our OTs can also assist you with strategies for maintaining a healthy mind, coping with memory loss, supporting carers.
Podiatry – We provide routine foot and nail care to prevent problems, and we diagnose, treat and rehabilitate medical conditions in the feet and lower limbs. We specialise in diagnosing common skin and nail pathologies, as this plays an important role maintaining your mobility - especially if you are living with a disability. And if you have diabetes or vascular problems, or face other risks, we can help with ongoing monitoring of your foot health.
Speech Therapy – Speech pathology involves managing problems in communication and/or swallowing, which may arise as a result of a stroke or other neurological conditions (such as Parkinson’s disease and dementia). Communication treatment may include activities to assist with improving reading, writing, speaking and understanding others. Speech pathology also includes assessing swallowing and developing strategies for safe swallowing and appropriate food selections. A TALKBACK GROUP runs during the year to provide opportunities for people with chronic aphasia as a result of a stroke to practice conversation with others.
Social Work – Our Social Worker provides assessments of psycho-social needs, loss and grief counselling, advance care directives and other future planning. She can also assist you and your family with issues arising from the move into residential care.
Focus on Restorative and Wellness Program – We have a range of Therapist- and/or Therapy Assistant-led group sessions with a therapeutic emphasis. If you are an older person who needs some help to stay fit and healthy, such as help with your balance, improving your strength or bone density or to recover after an accident or stay in hospital, then you may benefit from this service. Our qualified and experienced physiotherapists will asses your individual needs and help you set goals and design a plan.
