People Who Care Inc (PWC) is an independent not-for-profit volunteer organisation which provides services to the frail aged, people with disabilities, carers and others with special needs to enable them to live independently for as long as possible and to avoid premature or inappropriate admission to long-term care facilities.

The organisation operates from offices in Guildford, Mandurah and Warwick and covers the greater part of the Perth metropolitan and Peel regions.

Services include:

Transport to and from appointments, activities or community centres to allow participation in the community.  Priority is given to hospital and medical appointments.

Home Maintenance to help with minor repairs to their house, garden or yard in order to maintain their homes in a safe and habitable condition.  Activities include mowing and weeding, pruning and small handyman jobs.

Social Support is provided to help clients with shopping, bill paying, visiting friends or relatives, attending group outings and to access other community services.

Domestic Assistance is currently only operating in the metropolitan area and assists our clients with everyday household tasks such as dishwashing, house cleaning, clothes washing, shopping and bill paying.

Community Visitors Scheme provides companionship to people who live in residential care facilities, (nursing homes) who have been identified as being at risk of becoming socially isolated. PWC arranges for volunteers to visit residents at mutually convenient times. This service is available in the north and east metropolitan regions only.

Leisure Centres in Guildford, Mandurah and Warwick provide clients with centre-based day care and participation in structured group activities under the watchful eyes of trained carers. Staff organise regular group excursions and visits to different community places including markets, plant nurseries, wineries, restaurants, swimming pools, shopping centres and gardens.

Indoor activities include crafts, painting classes, computer lessons, movies, exercise sessions, lunches, quizzes and games. The Mandurah centre even offers dinner cruises, mystery bus tours and movie/dinner evenings at the centre.
