The Aged Rights Advocacy Service (ARAS) is a small organisation of 13 staff who assist older people to speak up to protect their rights. This vacancy is a new position and is a result of the State Government plan - Our Actions for the Prevention of Older South Australians.
The advocate will work in the ARAS Abuse Prevention Program (APP) which assists older people living in the community, who are experiencing, or at risk of, abuse from those with whom they are in a relationship of trust, such as family or friends.
The two major components of the position are working with older people and their family representatives to assist them to miminise abuse and presenting information sessions to relevant audiences.

Title of position Advocate - Contract Position to June 2009
Classification Level ARAS Enterprise Agreement Salary arrangements: Level Four - $48,896 - with salary packaging equivalent value $55830. Other conditions as per SACS Award.
Team Community Care (Abuse Prevention & HACC).
This position is within the Abuse Prevention Team.
